Campaign for Delaware

Investing in the future

You make it work. At the College of Business and Economics, we understand that one of our most valuable assets is a strong partnership with you--our alumni and friends. Through the years, your generous support has enabled the College to advance toward its goal of being recognized as one of the nation's best business schools.

Never has an investment in the future been more important than now, as your annual gift supports the five-year Campaign for Delaware, the first comprehensive effort for private support in the history of the University of Delaware. "This five-year, $225 million initiative hinges upon the notion that our future depends on our present," said University President David P. Roselle in announcing the campaign. "What we do now to ensure the continued viability of top-flight academic programs will have a profound impact in the years to come."

As an integral part of the Campaign for Delaware, the College of Business and Economics is seeking to secure more than $21 million. That money will:

"By helping us achieve this goal, you have the opportunity to shape the future of business education at the University," says Kenneth R. Biederman, dean of the College. "Your support will ensure our continued vitality by attracting talented students and faculty to an intellectually rich environment of research, experiential learning, study abroad and innovative programs. Your support will provide the technology and other resources needed to reach our goal of excellence."

The Campaign for Delaware continues a legacy of philanthropy at the University. In the College of Business and Economics, through the years, gifts from alumni and friends, foundations and corporations have provided scholarships, fellowships, equipment and modern classroom facilities. Perhaps the most visible result of the philanthropic spirit is MBNA America Hall, home of the College and one of the landmark new buildings on campus.

Support is critical to the continued advancement of our academic program, and the College gratefully thanks those donors whose generosity has been key to our success. As of June 30, a wide array of donors--students, alumni, friends, foundations and corporations--had invested approximately $7 million in the College through the Campaign for Delaware. That represents nearly 33 percent of the College's goal in less than one year of the five-year effort.

To accomplish our mission, we must provide opportunities for learning, up-to-date facilities, the most modern of technology and an informed and committed faculty. For that, we rely on our partnerships with you, our alumni and friends. Your support is critical to the advancement of our programs in the College of Business and Economics. Your gifts enable us to recruit the top students and professors. Your gifts enable us to provide the classrooms and technology necessary to learning. Your gifts enable us to train business leaders for the 21st century. In short, your gifts make it work.
