Wyland, one of the world’s premiere environmental artists, visited UD’s Coast Day in October to create an ocean mural similar to those he’s painted on walls from Baltimore to San Diego. During the day-long celebration, students of all ages helped paint a marine life mural on a 24-foot-long plywood canvas erected on the University’s grounds in Lewes. Wyland’s artwork—from his sculptures to his ceramic tile murals—have been featured in exhibitions worldwide. His largest mural, Planet Ocean, in Long Beach, Calif., is more than three acres long.
