Cheering the team

Erika D. Gould, AS '93, '95M, a fifth-grade counselor at P.S. duPont Elementary School in Wilmington, Del., spends most fall evenings from 7-10 p.m. practicing with the cheerleading squad of the Philadelphia Eagles football team. "There are 36 of us on the squad," she says, "and we all take part in a pre-game dance at every game." Gould also was on the squad in 1992-93 season while she was still a student. "I was taking a feature writing course and decided to write about the cheerleading auditions," she says. "I ended up making it onto the squad, and my story made it into the newspaper. But, I had to give up cheerleading the next year because of the demands of graduate school."
