Egypt
Feb. 17-28
(11 days-10 nights) $2,982

Travel to the glorious historical sites of ancient Egypt in the comfort of deluxe accommodations, ride a camel at the pyramids and observe the feluccas sailing on the Nile. Sightseeing begins in Cairo and includes a full day in the seaside city of Alexandria. Fly to Luxor to visit the intriguing Valley of the Kings and to begin your Nile cruise. Shore excursions at Luxor, Edfu, Esna Kom-Ombo and Aswan are included. Aboard the cruise boat, you will stay in a junior suite, complete with private bath and a large picture window. Special features include a visit to the massive temples at Abu Simbel and to the newly opened Mohammed Kahlil Museum of 19th-century French Impressionist paintings, a private lecture at the American University in Cairo and an Egyptologist guide throughout your tour. Tourist security has been increased.

France, Switzerland and Italy

This delightful tour has been specially prepared for UD alumni. Visit Claude Monet's house, Giverny, the Palace of Versailles, the Gothic Notre-Dame Cathedral in Chartres and the Louvre. Then board a TGV (high-speed train) to Dijon for sightseeing before continuing by motorcoach to the lake-side resort of Montreaux. A walking tour of the city of Lucerne will be followed by a trip through a mountain pass to Lake Como. Two full days of sightseeing in and around the Italian lake district allows us to visit the lovely villages with their iron balconies and narrow steets. At Stresa, a ferry will take us to the island of Isola Bella to visit the grand palace and its 10 terraced gardens.

East Africa

June 5-21 (14 days-15 nights) $4,395

Travel with photographer John Weiss, UD professor of art. Fly into Amsterdam and depart for Nairobi the next day. Travel to Lea Downs, a private 40,000-acre conservancy, home to a myriad of plains animals, providing excellent photographic opportunities. Spend the next two days on a special journey by camel. Enjoy two full days of game viewing on the Samburu/Buffalo Springs Game Reserve situated on either side of the Uaso Nyiro River. Here, herds of elephants come to drink and bird life at Samburu occurs in bewildering abundance. Spend one evening photographing a traditional Samburu dance group. Travel north to Maralal, a small, active village with a colorful market that is a gathering place for Samburu and Turkana peoples, and spend the night at the spectacular Maralal Safari Lodge. Continue into the Great Rift Valley, an immense geological fault that stretches from Jordan to southern Africa, and spend three days on an exciting journey to Maasai Mara, one of Africa's best game reserves. Limited to 15 participants.

Adventures in England
July 30-Aug. 8 (10 days-9 nights) $2,790

Explore the 18th-century England of Jane Austen with Lord Addison Tours, on a trip sponsored jointly by the UD Alumni Association and the Historical Society of Delaware. The tour begins with a dinner party at a London hotel. See the Georgian row homes of South Kensington to Tower Bridge, Bloomsbury to the River Thames. End your second day with an early pub supper and theatre in London's renowned West End. Leave London and visit Austen's home in the village of Chawton. Her house, St. Nicholas Church, the thatched-cottage gardens and the manor where her brother was squire all give a glimpse into the author's life. Visit Stourhead and Mompesson House, which was filmed as Mrs. Jennings' London home in Sense and Sensibility. Tour Dorset and Dorchester and then overnight in the seaside town of Lyme Regis, the principal setting of Persuasion and the film version of The French Lieutenant's Woman. Not to be missed is a visit to Bath, the social gathering spot of 18th-century England. Our route leads to picturesque Lacock Abbey and into the Thames Valley for a pub lunch before arriving back in London, with its broad sweep of parks, museums, shopping and theatres.

New Orleans
Oct. 19-23
(5 days-4 nights) $940

Travel from Philadelphia to the Inn on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, with dinner at the New Orleans School of Cooking. Visit Longue Vue home and garden, tour the city and dine at the Chart House Restaurant, followed by the Dixieland Jazz Show and the Chris Owens Show on Bourbon Street. A steamboat ride on the Mississippi River will be followed by dinner at the Bon Ton Creole Restaurant and entertainment at the Top of the Mart Lounge and the Pete Fountain Show. Local guides and a professional tour manager will be available throughout.
