Colossal columns

Four, turned concrete columns, standing over 31 feet tall and weighing 24,000 pounds each, were installed this spring at the Mall entrance of Gore Hall, the new classroom building under construction. The columns are the tallest to date built by Dupu is Memorials of Opelousas, La., The base of each is 48-1/2 inches in diameter, tapering to a 39-1/2 inch diameter at the top.
