University of Delaware Office of Public Relations The Messenger Vol. 5, No. 4/1996 Four sororities get new houses on Laird Campus Four sororities at UD-Chi Omega, Phi Sigma Sigma, Alpha Sigma Alpha and Kappa Delta-will move this fall into new homes being built by the University on the Laird Campus, near the Pencader Residence Hall Complex. Each sorority will be given a 10-year lease, beginning Sept. 2, 1996, subject to renewal. Each of the facilities will accommodate 15 members. Sisters of Phi Sigma Sigma previously lived in a University house on Orchard Road. This building will be vacated and another sorority, Alpha Epsilon Phi, will move into the site. When that is done, 9 of the 11 campus sororities will have their own housing. According to Tim Brooks, dean of students, "The University has been interested in providing adequate housing for sororities, and the construction of these new facilities is a major step in accomplishing that goal."
