University of Delaware Office of Public Relations The Messenger Vol. 5, No. 1/1995 Alumni briefs Nursing alumni seek nominations Nominations are sought by March 15 for the College of Nursing Recognition Award for Excellence, recently established by the Nursing Alumni Association. To be considered for the award, nurses must have received their degree five years prior to the nomination; have demonstrated professional accomplishments/achievements; made contributions to the profession and the College of Nursing; participated in community service; and exhibited potential for achievement. The Recognition Award for Excellence will be presented on Honors Day, May 3. Alumni set house tour Ten homes in the Newark and Hockessin, Del., areas will be on the 1996 spring house tour sponsored by the Human Resources Alumni Association. Scheduled for Sunday, April 28, the annual tour will feature architecture from colonial to contemporary, as well as creative interior and landscape design features. Several homeowners will display their collections of antiques, musical instruments and entertainment systems. Last year's tour contributed more than $5,000 to the college's scholarship fund, providing scholarships to two freshmen. Spring break for alumni Alumni are invited to attend a spring break adventure in Yellowstone National Park with members of the University's Outdoor Recreation Resource Center. Scheduled for March 23-30, the trip will include snowshoeing through the Geyser Basin area. The fee of $920 per person includes roundtrip airfare, ground transportation, equipment and food while on the trail. A deposit of $200 is required, with full payment by Feb. 16.
