University of Delaware Office of Public Relations The Messenger Vol. 5, No. 1/1995 The College School Jeanne Geddes-Key, the new director of The College School-the University's alternative education program for children ages 6-13-is involving students from other parts of the University. Children in The College School have normal to bright intelligence, but they experience learning difficulties in traditional school settings. With small classes and individualized instruction, the school works to help these children return to the mainstream in a few years' time. "One of my primary goals is to enhance the partnership between The College School and other units at the University," Geddes-Key says. "Right now, I have students from the psychology, nursing, music and physical education departments working with our students. The nursing students do vision and hearing screening, the P.E. students develop fitness programs and a psychology graduate student is doing educational testing. I want more and more of this."
