Messenger - Vol. 4, No. 3, Page 13 1995 Smith heads student life Roland McFatridge Smith, vice president for student affairs at the University of Oklahoma since 1991, became UD's new vice president for student life in May. A native of Texas, Smith held positions at the University of Houston and at Carnegie Mellon University, where he served as associate provost for academic affairs from 1980-85. A former secondary school teacher and a professor of history, Smith is responsible for leadership of the offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, Career Services, Counseling and Student Development, Dean of Students, Residence Life, Student Health Service, Student Center and Student Services for Athletes. He is an Army veteran.
