Messenger - Vol. 3, No. 4, Page 23 Summer 1994 Outstanding alumni honored Anthony J. DePetris '86M of Camden, N.J., and Sally Heinel Higgins '48, '72M of Seaford, Del., received the University of Delaware Alumni Association's 1994 Outstanding Alumni Awards. Higgins holds bachelor's and master's degrees in education from the University. A retired director of guidance in the Seaford School District, she has served as class representative for the Class of 1948 for several years. She is a Sussex County chapter coordinator and has been a member of the University's Board of Trustees since 1971, serving as chair of the Education and Training Committee and as a member of the Student Life Committee and the Arts and Humanities Committee. Higgins also works with VAST (Volunteer Admissions Support Team), whose volunteers actively promote the University to the best qualified students in their areas. DePetris received his master's in public administration in 1986, specializing in financial management, and was the recipient of the Title IX Public Service Fellowship. He received his B.A. magna cum laude in political science from Rutgers University-Camden in 1984. DePetris currently is executive assistant to the president of Burlington County College. The founder of the College of Urban Affairs and Public Policy satellite alumni association, he developed its constitution and bylaws, designed most of the programs, including the association's newsletter, organized reunion nights for college alumni, recruited alumni to serve on the board and helped to organize the college's first phonathon. He currently is secretary of the Alumni Association board of directors.
