A Dog's Life

Thanks to Skip, the German shepherd pictured here, Cindy Walters,
Delaware '89, of Perkiomenville, Pa., won first prize in the humor and
imagination category last fall in an American Photo Magazine contest. Using
a model and the Walters' family pet in spoofing an advertising campaign,
Walters told the magazine, "Skip is so full of character." Walters was
featured in the spring 1993 issue of Today's Photographer, where she
explained why she left a 9-to-5 job in the states for Interlaken,
Switzerland, where she photographs outdoor sports. Of her photographs of
white water rafting, she said: "Some of the roughest waters could be
captured within the first four minutes of the trip. I would then race by
car to two more positions along the river. In this job, I found the energy,
motivation and adventure for which I had been searching." She plans to
return to the U.S. for graduate school and a teaching career.
