Messenger - Vol. 2, No. 2, Page 23 Winter 1993 Library Associates hear about diplomatic art Alumni and friends of the University are invited to join the University of Delaware Library Associates, a non-profit organization that expands and enriches the research collections of the library. Founded in 1958, the organization supports the library through gifts from individual members, fund raising and donations of significant books. Membership in the organization begins at $25, and activities include invitations to an annual dinner and lecture, exhibition openings and other book-related events. Scheduled for April 27, this year's dinner speaker is Clement E. Conger, who will give a one-hour illustrated slide lecture on "The History and Formation of the Collection of the Diplomatic Reception Rooms" at the U.S. Department of State. Conger curated the fine and decorative arts belonging to the state department and co-authored a book on the collection with Wayne Craven, H.F. du Pont Winterthur Professor of Art History at the University. Members also receive a newsletter and Collections, an occasional journal based on research using the rare book, manuscript and special collections of the University's Hugh M. Morris Library.
