Fall 1991
Video recalls 25 years of nursing college

A Homecoming tailgate, a "This is Your Life" video, an art
auction, alumni brunch and Mall exhibit are planned highlights of the
College of Nursing's 25th anniversary celebration.
The college kicked off its year-long tribute May 9 with a
reception in Clayton Hall. The opening event came complete with a huge
birthday cake and an impressive number of well-wishers, including
state and University officials. The event also marked the official
start of a $1 million fundraising effort to establish a scholarship
endowment for the college. To date $500,000 has been raised.
On Oct. 5, nurses will take their celebration outdoors with a
Homecoming tailgate party.
Other events set for the fall include a reception for
representatives of health-care agencies and regional organizations
that employ or help train Delaware nursing students. Also this fall,
the college's alumni association will sponsor an anniversary art
auction to be held in the gallery at the Perkins Student Center.
In the spring, the college will host a brunch for friends and
supporters; set-up a display booth at the New Castle County Senior
Services Human Services fair at Christiana Mall; sponsor a theme essay
contest for Honors Day 1992; and have an alumna of the College of
Nursing's first graduating class speak at the University's 1992
Convocation ceremony.
As a special anniversary gift to students, faculty, alumni,
contributors and supporters, the college has commissioned a video
version of "This is Your Life." The video family album will chronicle
the growth and changes that have taken place within the college and
the nursing profession. The story will be brought to life through
interviews with alumni, administrators, faculty, students and others
associated with the college. Many individuals have volunteered their
photographs, film/tapes, letters and memorabilia for the video, which
will be produced by Instructional Technology. The preliminary
completion date is Jan. 31.
