Top family physician honored

Dr. Galicano Inguito Jr., AS ’85, BE ’02M, has been named the 2008 Family Physician of the Year by the Delaware Academy of Family Physicians.

Inguito has an active family practice in Wilmington, Del., which includes patients from pediatrics to geriatrics. In addition, he works with the St. Clare Medical Outreach van, which provides medical care to the homeless, and with the Tiny Steps Program, which provides prenatal and postnatal care to patients in northern Delaware.

He teaches medical students at Temple University School of Medicine, where he is an adjunct clinical assistant professor, and at Wilmington’s St. Francis Hospital, where he is associate director of the hospital’s family medicine residency program.

Currently president of the Delaware Board of Medical Practice, Inguito also is active with the Federation of State Medical Boards, the American College of Physician Executives, the American Medical Association and other national professional organizations.

Inguito earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry at UD and his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. He later returned to UD to earn a master of business administration degree through the University’s Executive MBA Program. He is a member of the UD Alumni Association board of directors.
