Three generations of cheers

While undergraduates at UD, John S. Barry, AS ’62, played basketball and lacrosse and Pat Fowler Barry, BE ’64, was a cheerleader. Over the years, the couple and their growing family continued to support the University by purchasing season tickets in football and basketball, making contributions to capital campaigns, participating in fundraising committees and alumni councils and even using affinity credit cards. Today, John and Pat Barry can count among their extended family 37 UD graduates and five Double Del couples who have contributed their talents in cheerleading, basketball, baseball, football and lacrosse. A sampling of these spirited family members was photographed in costume at the UD vs. Vermont basketball game in December: First row, all from left, grandchildren Kevin Keister, Madison Keister, Alexa Nowocin, Rachel Nowocin, Samantha Barry and Caitlin Barry; second row, Maureen Barry Keister, CHS ’93, Tripp Keister, CHS ’94, with daughter Kristin Keister, John and Pat Barry and Beth Barry; and third row, Ray Nowocin, Trish Barry Nowocin, Beth Snow Gilbert Barr, CHEP ’90, and John C. Barry, BE ’90.
