When Delaware's 19 school districts chose their most outstanding teachers to compete for the title of Delaware Teacher of the Year for 2002-03, all but one of the teachers nominated had ties to UD.

Eleven earned one degree at the University; five earned two degrees; and seven completed courses for certification or graduate studies.

Sharon Crossen, the 2003 Delaware Teacher of the Year, an English/drama teacher at Polytech High School in Woodside, took graduate courses at the University.
