Seven University alumni will be inducted into the Alumni Wall of Fame at 5:30 p.m., Friday, May 9 in Bayard Sharp Hall.
The ceremony is open to the public.
T. Elbert Chance AS '52, '58M
Known as the "voice of Delaware football," Chance served as public address announcer since 1953. His first job after graduating from the University was as sports information director from 1952-54. He also was director of the Alumni Relations office for 29 years, from 1956-85.
Allan Ferguson EG '65
Ferguson is managing director of 3i Technology Partners, an international venture capital group specializing in high-technology businesses. His company invested more than $440 million in technology firms in 2002 and has total assets of more than $10 billion. Ferguson and his wife also are tree farmers, recognized through the American Tree Farm System for their forest management work.
Rakesh Jain EG '74M, '75PhD
The Andrew Werk Cook Professor of Tumor Biology at Harvard Medical School, Jain conducts research on bioengineering and tumor pathophysiology. He has written more than 200 research papers, 75 reviews and commentaries and he holds three patents.
Jacqueline Jones AS '70
Jones is a distinguished historian who has made important contributions to the scholarship of African-American women, slavery and the American working class. A recipient of the prestigious MacArthur Foundation "genius" award for exceptional contributions to her field, Jones is the Truman Professor of American Civilization and chairperson of the Department of History at Brandeis University.
Anthony A. Kossiakoff AS '73PhD
Kossiakoff is the Otho-Sprague Professor and chairperson of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Chicago. His research has led the field of protein structure studies, specifically protein crystallography and the understanding of metabolic regulation of the human growth hormone and alternate structures in Alzheimer's.
Stephen Mockbee BE '73
Founder and president of Bancroft Construction Co., a multidiscipline construction management firm, Mockbee has been recognized for volunteer service with the Jefferson Award for American Public Service and the Apex Award from United Way.
Ruth Arak Toor AS '53
A leader in school library and information service, Toor recently retired from the School District of Chatham, N.J., where she served as the library media specialist for 29 years. She has co-authored 11 publications and has written and co-edited a monthly journal for the last 22 years.
