Mentors memorialized
In the spring, seven faculty were recognized for exellence in undergraduate teaching and advising and, for the first time, awards also were presented for outstanding graduate student mentoring and advising at the doctoral and master's degree levels.
The names of all the recipients will be inscribed on bricks in Mentors' Circle near Memorial Hall.
Recognized for their undergraduate teaching were Mary Ann McLane, assistant professor of medical technology, Paul Amer, professor of computer and information sciences, Daniel Callahan, professor of history, and Gary Allison, instructor in education. Advising awards were presented to Sandra Fields, instructor in business administration, Steven Hastings, professor of food and resource economics and Eric Rise, associate professor of criminal justice.
Donald Sparks, S. Hallock duPont Chair of Plant and Soil Sciences, and Charles Epifano, professor of marine studies, received the first-time awards from the University for graduate student mentoring and advising.
