Class Notes

New U.S. marshal

David W. Thomas, AS '82, became the U.S. marshal for Delaware after his appointment was approved by the U.S. Senate and signed by President Bush in July. One of 95 marshals nationwide, Thomas is responsible for providing federal courtroom security, overseeing fugitive investigations, housing federal prisoners prior to sentencing and managing seized and forfeited property throughout Delaware. While attending UD, Thomas worked part time for the University Police, was a volunteer with the UD Emergency Care Unit and played baseball for one year. He joined the Delaware State Police after serving as a UD police officer from 1981-84. He retired after 18 years of service to take the marshal position. He and his wife, Joanne, have two sons, Jordan and Julian.
