More about MALS

The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) program "allows mature adults to further their personal and intellectual growth and experience the joy of learning for its own sake," Gary May, professor of history and director of the program, says.

"MALS gives students a liberal arts education at the graduate level, exciting seminars, spirited debate and the chance to establish new friendships."

To apply, students need an official transcript of their previous undergraduate courses and confirmation of their bachelor's degree, three letters of reference and a short essay describing their intellectual interests and how those interests could be developed in the program. A personal interview with the program director and members of the advisory committee also is required. Applications can be submitted any time.

MALS is offered throughout Delaware, with an extensive array of courses available in both Newark and Georgetown.

Two core courses and six electives are required. For detailed information, check the program's web site, [http://www.udel.edu/mals].
