The College's Executive Leadership Lecture Series kicks off its 2002-03 session this fall with a speech by Charles (Chad) O. Holliday Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of the DuPont Co. The public lecture series is dedicated to UD benefactors Chaplin and Elizabeth Tyler and honors their commitment to education and to helping young people succeed in business.
On Friday, Oct. 18, Holliday will speak about DuPont, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year, in a lecture titled, "Sustainable Growth in Our Third Century--Transforming the Corporation."
Holliday joined DuPont in 1970 and became its chief executive in 1998. Under his direction, DuPont has positioned itself as a science company committed to long-term, sustainable growth. Holliday has supplemented the company's traditional strengths with strategic investments in biotechnology and electronics.
The lecture series continues on Friday, Nov. 15, when Richard Vague, CEO of Juniper Financial, a direct consumer credit card bank with advanced Internet and wireless functionality, is the featured speaker. His topic is "Juniper Bank: A Status Report."
Talks in the Executive Leadership Lecture Series, which are free and open to the community, generally begin at 3 p.m. in MBNA America Hall on the UD campus. For more information or to reserve a seat, phone (302) 831-2221; fax (302) 831-3329; or e-mail [mbaprogram@udel.edu].
