Atlanta
Atlanta Club coordinator Julie Harder, BE '96, hosted a wine-tasting event Sept. 6 at the Brio Tuscan Grill in Buckhead. Nearly 80 UD alumni and friends from the Atlanta area learned about wines from different regions of the world.
UD vs. Georgia Southern University
UD alumni and football fans--more than 200 strong--traveled to Statesboro, Ga., on Sept. 8, to watch the Blue Hens take on the 2000 NCAA 1-AA champion Georgia Southern Eagles. Fans enjoyed a pregame buffet at the UD alumni tent, but were disappointed when the Blue Hens lost to the Eagles, 38-7.
Baltimore
The Baltimore Ravens' first home game of the season against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 9 was watched closely by 75 UD graduates and friends, after a pregame brunch at the Marriott Inner Harbor. The Super Bowl Champions did not let down their fans, defeating the Bears, 17-6.
Central New Jersey
More than 30 College of Business and Economics alumni joined B&E faculty and staff for a delightful "mix and mingle" reception Oct. 30 in Voorhees, N.J. The reception provided a great opportunity for New Jersey alumni to re-connect, meet new faces and share what's happening in their lives.
UD vs. James Madison University
It was a great day of football Nov. 3 in Harrisonburg, Va., as the Blue Hens took on the James Madison University Dukes, following a pregame tailgate for UD alumni and friends. The Blue Hens spoiled the Dukes' homecoming with a 28-3 victory.
Philadelphia
Nearly 200 Philadelphia area UD alumni and friends attended an event Nov. 8 hosted by Jim Keller, AS '93, club coordinator, at the Union League in Center City. Several UD administrators, including President David Roselle, attended, and the D#Sharps, a female a cappella group on campus, entertained.
UD vs. Villanova University
In the final football game of the season for the Blue Hens, the team traveled Nov. 17 to Villanova, Pa., to take on the Villanova Wildcats. UD alumni enjoyed a pregame tailgate across from the football stadium and were entertained by UD's cheerleading team. Despite the enthusiastic cheers by fans, the Blue Hens went down in defeat by a score of 19-14.
Washington, D.C.
A UD Night was held Dec. 5 at Buffalo Billiards on DuPont Circle in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 5, just before the holidays. Hosted by Adam Walker, BE '96, the event drew more than 150 alumni and friends, allowing them to socialize with other University alumni who live and work in the area.
Pittsburgh
UD alumni, friends and parents from the Pittsburgh area joined together for a holiday party on Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Duquesne Club. The event was hosted by Fred Sargent, whose son, Evan, is a senior in the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy. Kevin O'Brien, assistant vice president for University Development, updated the group on the exciting changes on campus.
New Castle County, Del.
Nearly 500 guests, including 100 UD alumni, attended a campus performance of The Broadway Kids, Dec. 9, which was followed by a reception in Gore Hall. Stars of the show were available for autographs and pictures.
Boston
A holiday party at Vox Populi, located in the Back Bay section of Boston, drew more than 70 UD alums. The Dec. 13 event was hosted by Phillip Bean, AS '94, club coordinator. Graduates from the 1960s through 2001 attended.
Austin
The Iron Cactus, a popular downtown restaurant, was the setting for the first alumni event to be held in Austin. Lethe Crum Burns, AS '96, club coordinator, hosted the gathering of nearly 30 alumni and friends. More than 200 UD alumni live in Texas.
Richmond
More than 40 UD alumni and friends gathered at the Altell Pavilion in Richmond, Va., Jan. 14, to watch the Blue Hens take on the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams. Before the game, guests had an opportunity to meet with other alumni from the Richmond area at a reception overlooking center court. Unfortunately, the Blue Hens lost to the Rams 68-57.
