Several changes and upgrades in security measures at Delaware Stadium were initiated, beginning with the Sept. 22 Atlantic 10 football game vs. Massachusetts.

The changes were announced Sept. 20 in light of tragedies in New York and Washington, D.C., and the recent upgraded security measures taken at many sports arenas throughout the country.

The following measures will continue throughout the season:

• Increased security presence at all Delaware Stadium entrance gates;
  
  
• Increased facility inspection by Athletics staff and Public Safety personnel prior to stadium opening;
  
  
• Closer scrutiny of all existing security procedures;
  
  
• Coolers, backpacks and large bags will be prohibited from being brought into Delaware Stadium;
  
  
• All bags or articles brought into Delaware Stadium will be subject to inspection prior to entry; and
  
  
• Fans are reminded that the "no pass-out" policy instituted this year is still in effect

All UD athletic events on the weekend of Sept. 15-16, including the football game vs. West Chester, were canceled in light of the tragedies in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania.

Football resumed at UD with the Sept. 22 contest, which included a pre-game moment of silence and the fans singing "America the Beautiful" during half-time, accompanied by the UD Marching Band.
