Hang glider’s panorama

John Scott, HNS ’80, of Los Angeles took this photograph at 10,000 feet, looking back toward Mt. Whitney, the highest mountain in the lower 48 states. Scott, who is the owner of Bretton Woods Foreign Currency Exchange, started hang gliding in 1984 and says “it is now an obsession.” He competed in the 1996 U.S. Nationals held in Dinosaur, Colo., finishing 15th out of 144 pilots, and is the founder and main sponsor of the Michael Champlin World XC Challenge. Scott says this year-long cross country contest allows pilots using all forms of soaring crafts to compete against one another without having to leave home. Scott is married to Lauren Nathan, a research physician, and has two children, Bari Alexis and Nicholas William.
