Next Steps:
1. The next consortium meeting is on Wednesday, 4/1/98 at 6:30.
The location will be Wilmington Head Start.
2. Rena will send out a list of the policy council representatives
with the minutes from this meeting.
3. Rena and Martha will explore the large family child care option
for the Brookmont site.
4. The Child Development and Health sub-committee will meet to discuss
program policies in this area. A proposal will be presented at the
next consortium meeting.
Updates:
1. The policy council meeting was cancelled in February. Michael
Gamel-McCormick will be working with a UD student in planning for another
meeting. It is anticipated that this meeting will take place in the
next 4-6 weeks. All consortium members will be notified with specific
details.
2. Martha reported on the UD family child care meeting. Eleven
family child care providers attended this meeting. So far, we have
received six applications from providers. Nadine, Martha, and Rena
will be following up with these providers and conducting the initial screening.
3. Martha provided an update on the Brookmont site. It appears
that this site may be available for expansion, however, it is currently
not feasible to operate the program as it was originally proposed due to
changes in the sub-contracting agency. Martha is continuing to work
the university to determine appropriate next steps.
4. Deborah provided an update on the WHS center. WHS is
moving ahead on determining needs for the targeted classrooms. Difficulties
with the UD sub-contract will slow the process down somewhat. However,
WHS still plans to open sometime in April.
5. No report from New Castle County Head Start.
6. Rena outlined the approach that the Child Development and Health
committee was taking on proposing across-program procedures (e.g. developmental
and health screenings). Specifics will be outlined at the next meeting.
7. Martha and Deborah discussed the procedures outlined by the program
design and management committee concerning processes that would be the
same for all NDEHS sites and those that would be different for each site.
A list of the processes to be shared across site are attached.
