The Nakamura-za on Sakai Street, circa 1745 |
In the daylight we can see that under the signboards of the Nakamura-za are front-door entertainers (kido geisha) who mimic actors as a kind of living signboard while a theater employee positioned at their side sells door passes. The signboards of the Ichimura-za are clearly visible in the next block. Before tapping the front-door entertainers of the Nakamura-za, stroll down to the other end of the street for a quick look at the Ichimura. |
