This course introduces students to basic information about
U.S. history from
colonization to the end of Reconstruction, develops the skills
involved in reading and
interpreting history, and provides opportunities for discussion
of historical issues.
Class meetings combine lecture and discussion. Students will
take two in-class
exams, plus a final exam, and will write two brief essays based
on course readings.
