DEAN LARSON

Dr. Dean Larson serves as a Commissioner on the Indiana Emergency Response Commission and is the Chair of the Certified Emergency Manager (CEM®) USA Commission. Dean is the project lead for the development of the first ISO Standard on exercises and testing and serves as Head of U.S. Delegation to ISO Technical Committee on Societal Security. He is member of the Technical Committees for NFPA 1600 and NFPA 1250. He holds certifications as Safety Professional (CSP), Emergency Manager (CEM), Performance Technologist (CPT), and Business Continuity Lead Auditor (CBCLA).

ORLANDO HERNANDEZ

Mr. Hernandez serves as Senior Specialist in Emergency Service for the National Fire Protection Association and has over 20 years of experience conducting and administering Fire and Life Safety Inspection Programs for the State of Texas Fire Marshal's Office and Bexar County Fire Marshal's Office.

He has over 16 years of Fire Investigation experience and 6 years of experience as an Emergency Management Coordinator and Incident Management Team responder. During the latter, he managed 6 Presidential Declaration of Disasters, 10 Texas Governor Declarations of Disasters, and 5 Local Declarations of Disasters. He has participated in responses for Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita, Hurricane Ike, wild land fires, the earthquake in Haiti.

Mr. Hernandez also volunteers with the Baptist Child and Family Services of Texas (BCFS), a nonprofit organization that offers emergency management support services to jurisdictions that assists with preparedness, response and recovery efforts, and medical sheltering to residents that require additional medical care during an emergency. BCFS has established health and human service programs that care for abused and neglected children, unite new or struggling families, and help those in need.

BRIAN ZAWADA

Brian Zawada is a co-founder and the Director of Consulting for Avalution Consulting, a global firm specializing in business continuity solution design, development, implementation and long-term program maintenance. Over the past seventeen years, Brian has actively managed internal business continuity programs and consulted with organizations of all sizes and in nearly all industries. Brian is a frequent author and speaker, and he serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Continuity Insights magazine and on the board of the USA Chapter of the Business Continuity Institute.

Brian previously served on the ASIS International Technical Committee that authored the new American National Standard on business continuity and he currently serves on the US Technical Advisory Group charged with authoring the new family of ISO Societal Security standards, including ISO 22301. Brian is certified as a Member of the Business Continuity Institute and is also certified by the Disaster Recovery Institute as a Master Business Continuity Professional.
