JOHN M. EVERSOLE

John Eversole serves as the Chair of the NFPA Technical Committee on Hazardous Materials Response Personnel, representing the International Association of Fire Chiefs. He previously served as Chief of Special Functions for the Chicago Fire Department. Under this command his responsibilities included Hazardous Materials, Heavy Rescue, Air/Sea Rescue, Specialized Equipment and the Office of Fire Investigation. Prior to that assignment, he was the Hazardous Materials Coordinator for the Chicago Fire Department. This assignment gave him direct responsibility for the department's Hazardous Incident Team and the overall coordination of the training and activities of the Squad Companies, Team Engines and Truck Companies, which make up the Hazardous Incident Team.

Chief Eversole has extensive training experience including Field Instructor, Academy Instructor, instructor for the Chicago City Colleges (20 years), instructor for the University of Illinois, and guest lecturer and instructor for many fire departments and private corporations. He also has provided training at many functions such as the Fire Department Instructor's Conference and the IAFC Conference, and has taught in Canada, Japan and South America, as well as throughout the United States.
