SUMMARYEIIP Tech Arena Online Presentation EM/2000 David Hancock Amy Sebring: Moderator The EIIP Tech Arena featured an incident management software package, EM/2000 by Specialized Disaster Systems International. SDSI Director of Development, David Hancock, provided an overview complete with screen captures to demonstrate the software. The product motto is "By Emergency Managers, For Emergency Managers." EM/2000 is a collection of 13 inter-related databases plus a customization manager that allows the user to customize common fields to user-specific terminology, and a search engine that allows one to search all databases at once. The databases cover resources, contacts, incident and message tracking, and situation reports. | |

David started working with computers back in 1980 when he received a Texas Instruments TI 99/A while working as a computer numerical controlled machinist in Louisiana. In 1983 he joined the Central Volunteer Fire Department in Baton Rouge and became a firefighter and Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician. In 1985 he went to work for the East In 1988 he went to work as an Emergency Officer for the Durham/Durham County Emergency Management Agency. He later became the Assistant Director for Training and Operations and then Emergency Management Coordinator during his ten and a half year tenure there. While there he formed Durham Search and Rescue and the Central Unit of the North Carolina Search and Rescue Dog Association. In February of 1999, David went to work for Specialized Disaster Systems International, Inc. where he is the Director of Development. * * * * |
