Actuarial Science

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Delaware offers a program in Actuarial Science leading to the Bachelor of Science degree.  The major, with courses taught by faculty in the Departments of Economics, Finance, and Mathematical Sciences (among others), provides a strong background in actuarial science, including the satisfaction of all three actuarial science VEE requirements. Students graduating with this degree will be well prepared for the first two actuarial examinations, the foundation of an actuarial career.

Though traditionally associated with insurance companies, today actuaries help companies in a wide variety of industries manage risk.  This allows companies to plan for the future and prepare for the unexpected.

Questions about a major in actuarial science should be directed to Prof. Rakesh, 410 Ewing Hall, (302) 831-2910,
