Class Participation Assignment P03

Class on 2/24/2005 will be relocated to the Job Fair in the Trabant Multi-Purpose room:

Your assignment is to visit the various employers, and write 1 or 2 paragraphs about your experiences.

It is suggested that you dress to impress, however if you don't have formal business attire, don't let that stop you; just dress as neatly as you can with what you have available (at least what is called "business casual.) It is also suggested that you have a resume available, however that is up to you.

As an aide to get you past writer's block, here are some suggested topic sentences:

• "My impression of the job market before the career fair was ..."
• "My experiences at the career fair confirmed that I was right about ..., but wrong about ...."
• "Some thing(s) that surprised me was/were ...".
• "One thing that didn't surprise me was ...".
• "It seems employers are looking for ...".

A challenge: can you find any employers that are specifically looking for Web Development skills, and if so, are they looking for Java/Servlets/JSP, or Perl/CGI/PHP, or Microsoft ASP, or something else?

Please send your 1-2 paragraphs via text (not MS Word attachment) email to pconrad@udel.edu with cc to gibson@udel.edu, with a subject line of "CISC474 P03". I would like to receive these by 5PM Friday night, so that you complete this assignment while your experience at the job fair is still fresh in your mind.
