Exam on Monday


(1) You are allowed one sheet of notes.

normal 8.5 x 11 sheet, front and back, it may be laser printed.

You can write on both sides... if you heavy card stock, you can even
write on the edges.

You may bring a magnifying glass.

Microfiche readers are prohibited...

Test covers:
  In Savitch Chapters 1-5, and the section in Savitch on structs
      (I think the section on structs is 6.1 maybe 6.2?)
  In Andersen, 6,7,8.

  Labs 1-4 will be covered on the exam.

  Not yet project 1.

Q: What is the format of the exam?

A: Generally speaking, Exam 1 has this format:

   30-60% multiple choice.  
      fill in the bubble on the scantron...

   25-30% question on EXAM ONE ONLY which is 
    write a complete C++ to do ...  

   one other short answer question... fill in the code in the function.

   or what is the output from this function.   

A:  Best way to find that out is to look at some old exams.
   There are many online...

 Find the links that say "exam info" for the various semesters,
 you can click and find old exams.

 Some have answer keys, some do not.

 If you have worked a problem, and want to know if your answer is right,
 post on the WebCT discussion board for Exam 1.

 DON'T SAY: what is the answer to question 5?

   The answer I got was 17.  Is that correct?

 DO SAY: Question 5 asked about fumblesschnoz.   I've never heard of that.
    Is it in the lecture?  Is it in the textbook?

  
Are we allowed a calculator?

Yes but you should not need it.
